The Alfred-Wegener Institute, a Helmholtz centre for polar and marine research is currently having a new Antarctic station built in Bremerhaven, the Neumayer-Station III. This station will be shipped by sea to the Antarctic and is to continue with German polar research for the next 25 - 30 years.
The development patented by the Alfred-Wegener Institute makes it possible to conduct research and live in the same building. Firstly this reduces the journey to work and secondly, the scientific measurements can largely be carried out independently of the weather. The construction even has a garage deck. However, the absolute highlight is a hydraulic lifting device. With this unique construction, the complex can't sink into the eternal ice, as its predecessor station could. It also prevents the station leaving components in the snow. Even the operational life is decisively increased with this impressive construction.
With numerous convertors, Plan valve, Profile valve and Mediano bathroom radiators, Kermi ensures pleasant temperatures in an icy environment.
