Heat Pump Subsidies: Your Investment in the Future.

The switch to renewable energies is a central concern for a sustainable future. Heat pumps play a key role in this as an efficient and environmentally friendly heating technology. As a leading manufacturer of heating and ventilation systems, we support the energy transition with innovative solutions that not only reduce heating costs, but also contribute to climate protection.

Government subsidy programmes are available to make it easier for you to switch to this pioneering technology. These subsidies significantly reduce the initial investment costs and make the decision in favour of a heat pump even more attractive.

and up to 70 % total funding

In 2025, KfW will continue to generously support you in switching to a modern heat pump. Property owners can benefit from a subsidy of up to 70%. This is made up of 30% basic funding and an additional climate bonus of 20% for owner-occupiers who replace a functioning fossil fuel heating system. Under certain conditions, further bonuses can be granted, increasing the total subsidy to up to 70 %.

Please Note!

The maximum eligible investment costs are up to 30,000 euros for the first housing unit. You can receive a grant of up to 70 % of this, i.e. 21,000 euros.

30 % basic subsidy

For all existing buildings. For private homeowners, landlords or non-profit organisations. For heat pumps that use water, ground or waste water as a heat source. An efficiency bonus of an additional 5% is also available for heat pumps that use a natural refrigerant. A supplement of 2,500 euros is granted for biomass heating systems if they comply with a dust emission limit value of 2.5 mg/m³.

+ 20 % speed bonus

Climate speed bonus of 20% until 2028 for the early replacement of old fossil fuel heating systems (i.e. old oil, coal, night storage or gas heating systems that are at least 20 years old) for owner-occupied housing units. Thereafter, the climate speed bonus will decrease by 3% every two years, initially to 17% from 1 January 2028.

+ 30 % income bonus

Income-related bonus of 30 %. For owner-occupiers with a taxable household income of up to €40,000 per year.

+ 5 % efficiency bonus

Efficiency bonus of 5 % for the use of heat pumps with natural refrigerants or geothermal energy as a heat source.

How to get your subsidy

Obtain a quote

Once you have made your decision, award the contract to your KERMI specialist partner. The supply and service contract must contain a suspensive or cancelling condition that is linked to the granting of the subsidy. Your specialist partner will know the appropriate wording.

Please Note!

If this condition is missing or if you start the refurbishment before step 3, this is considered to be an early start of the measures. In this case, the subsidy will be rejected.

As soon as you have been approved for the subsidy, you can also apply for the low-interest KfW supplementary loan from your bank.

Helpful tip!

If you are implementing an eligible measure and have a taxable household income of up to 90,000 euros, you can also apply for a supplementary loan from KfW and use this as a bridge until you receive the subsidised amount. Thanks to attractive interest rates, it can also be worthwhile financing the entire measure with the supplementary loan.

Realisation

Realisation

Once the subsidy has been approved, you can get started. Once the subsidy has been approved, the refurbishment measure must be implemented within 36 months.

Important!

If you start the refurbishment measures before you receive the grant notification, there is no legal entitlement to the grant.

Structure of the BEG (federal subsidy for efficient buildings)

The BEG consists of three sub-programmes

BEG residential buildings and BEG non-residential buildings

The systemic measures used to achieve an efficiency building level during the refurbishment or new construction of buildings are subsidised under the BEG WG and BEG NWG. The BEG applies to all residential buildings (WG), for example owner-occupied flats, detached houses and apartment blocks or residential homes, and to all non-residential buildings (NWG), for example commercial buildings, municipal buildings or hospitals.
