In Herdecke/North Rhine-Westphalia, the HGWG (Herdecker not-for-profit housing association) finished building the residential district “Alter Steinbruch” in early 2020. The development near the centre covering 10,000 square metres with 75 residential units across several buildings, offering living space for intergenerational communities.
In the houses built in the third phase, Kermi x-change dynamic 8 AW E air/water heat pump systems provided the heating and hot water production in the houses. Solar panel systems on the roofs supplied the necessary electricity. The buildings have been constructed in accordance with the high standards of the energy efficiency standard KfW 40 Plus which sustainably and permanently keeps the annual energy needs at a low level. The total annual COP of the heat pump achieves an extremely good value of 4.53.
This innovative technology from Kermi show that green, sustainable, and cost-effective heating is also possible in rental properties.

Where once bottles were filled for the Innstadt Brauerei, you will now find an attractive residential complex, the Inn.Viertel in Passau. The forty million Euro project has been built in the shape of a ring and consists of 120 housing units as well as apartments, including a range of green spaces. Five split-level buildings with 30 apartments, a hotel, and approx. 4,000 m2 of space for service provision, made up of a residential and commercial complex. Using a sustainable method of building was extremely important when realising the complex, complementing the car-sharing project in the Inn.Viertel which has been available to all tenants since 2018.
Kermi supplied panel temperature control for the residential district for an area of a good 4,000 square metres. Apart from that, 700 radiators have been installed, as well as convectors which are used in front of large areas of glass, and also Verteo Plan, a space-saving vertical steel panel radiator with a smooth front panel.

Bamber is amongst the most attractive towns in Germany. The historic city centre is the largest preserved undamaged of its kind and was therefore listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1993. The Henkel/Menzl family made it their job to extensively restore their half-timbered house which was mentioned in the town chronicles for the first time in 1648.
The old roof tiles, the clay and the compacted soil floors were preserved or reused. To keep the energy consumption of the old house as low as possible, it was completely insulated according to the EnEv (Energy Saving Ordinance for New Buildings). The first and second floor are heated entirely with wall heating from Kermi. This means that no radiators are required and the charm of the building from the Middle Ages is completely retained.

The Empress Augusta Foundation is a building complex in Potsdam which is steeped in history. The foundation has made it their task to give a home to war orphans in need of assistance. The architect A.Kickton built this building in a neo-Gothic style. The lady it was named after, Auguste Victoria, was the wife of Emperor Wilhelm I. She was allowed to live in the best room in the foundation.
In the time of the Russian occupation, the buildings were occupied by the KGB. The chapel of the foundation was used as a military court. In 2005 the Prinz von Preussen Bauträgergesellschaft mbH acquired the listed building and converted it into an exclusive residential complex with high quality, privately owned flats. Kermi ensures that the residents are kept comfortably warm with around 350 steel panel radiators installed.
